A Semester Full of Surprises

WEEK 18 - Exemption, Expectations, and Endless Debugging!

Looking back on this semester, it’s been a journey filled with highs and lows, moments of pure joy and excitement mixed with overwhelming stress and a touch of fear. Each of us experienced a whirlwind of emotions, sometimes all at once, as we navigated through the challenges of Software Design and Engineering. Starting from scratch in this subject, I’ve learned so much that I didn’t think was possible. None of this, though, would have been possible without Sir Carl one of the most amazing instructors in the Computer Engineering Department at USTP CDO. We’re all incredibly thankful for the opportunity to learn from him. His wisdom, patience, and kindness guided us every step of the way, and I know we’ll carry that with us long after this semester ends.

This week has truly tested our limits. With back-to-back exams and PIT presentations, it felt like we were running a marathon with no finish line in sight. We’ve been juggling assignments, meetings, and trying to keep our heads above water, but somehow, we made it through. The effort has been exhausting, but every struggle taught us something new. Each of us gave our best to meet the demands of this chaotic semester, and now, we’re standing on the other side, a little wiser and more resilient. The idea of finishing the semester was like a light at the end of a long, tiring path, and we were ready to get there.

Then came the twist a turn in the plot we never saw coming. We were all set to take our finals this week, but Sir Carl decided to exempt everyone from the exam. At first, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off our shoulders. No final exam? What a relief! But as quickly as the excitement set in, Sir Carl dropped the bombshell our app project would now be our final requirement. Suddenly, the relief turned into panic. Our app was still far from finished, and we had so much left to do debugging, finalizing features, testing, and fixing those last-minute errors that seem to pop up at the worst times. The clock was ticking, and the pressure was on.

It’s overwhelming, yes, but in a way, it also feels like an opportunity to show everything we’ve learned. This project isn’t just a task to complete it’s our chance to demonstrate the skills we’ve developed over the semester. The late nights, the countless hours spent brainstorming, the meetings where we pushed through confusion, all of it comes down to this. It’s our moment to prove that we can take on this challenge and create something we can all be proud of.

Despite the immense pressure, I’m excited about the challenge. It’s going to be tough, and the next few days will test us like never before. But I’m determined to see it through. We’ve made it this far, and I’m confident we can finish strong. This isn’t just about the grade, it’s about pushing ourselves to meet the demands of the real world, where deadlines and obstacles are part of the game. We’ve learned how to adapt, how to keep going when things get tough, and how to collaborate when it feels like there’s no way forward.

This week is going to be filled with long hours and plenty of stress, but it’s also our final chance to show what we’re capable of. I know the work ahead will be hard, but I believe in us, and I’m ready to give everything I’ve got to make this project something we can all be proud of. So, while the semester may be over in some ways, the real challenge is just beginning. It’s time to buckle down, push through, and finish this project with everything we’ve learned. Let’s make this final sprint count!
